I started 2015 feeling a little blah thanks to all the funky weather we’ve had on Memphis so I decided to take a four day weekend at the new year to start it off right. With our long weekend Shaun and I headed to my dad’s in Jackson with the girls for some relaxing time. Since my dad worked Friday Shaun and I were on our own and I was thrilled to discover a place with tea service in the area on Yelp.
Located inside an antique mall the carriage house cafe was a nice little spot to enjoy the afternoon. I mean, look at the charming ambience
This is clearly a ladies who lunch spot but there were a few men in the cafe as well.
We started off with a pot of peppermint tea. According to our waitress very few people order hot tea here, smh!
I loved getting vintage tea cups and a pot to drink our tea in, I really liked the pot but am not in a space position right now to add to my teapot collection.
For food there was a variety of salads, sandwiches and crepes that all sounded super yummy but I convinced Shaun to be a good sport and get the Tea for Two, here’s what came out:
We each got:
A chicken salad sandwich
Two cucumber and cream cheese tea sandwiches
Two egg salad tea sandwiches
Two tea cakes (small scones) one blueberry one raspberry
Two cheese straws
Grapes and a strawberry
One cake ball
One mini Danish
One chocolate straw
Everything tasted good and I enjoyed the nice presentation. But here’s the best part y’all, it was $9.95 per person!!!!! Hands down best tea value ever. With the cost of food, tea, tax and tip we spent what we usually do for one of us on a tea adventure.
Since the cafe is in an antique mall we browsed around a little before heading out to run errands. A lovely spot we will be sure to visit again! For my Memphis pals, this is only an hour away and there’s other fun things in Jackson as well such as the TN Safari Park, Rusty’s Movie Car Museum, Century Farms Winery or Crown Winery in nearby Humbolt. I’m calling this a day trip worth the drive.
