Nothing says the “I live in the South” more than a giant bait and tackle shop being a big attraction in your home town.
In Memphis, we have this giant pyramid building (short version: Memphis an ancient Egyptian city so . . .) at one point it was our big arena but renovating was cost prohibitive so we built a new one and this building sat empty for years until it was leased by the Bass Pro Shop. So, now we have a giant Bass Pro Shop, aka Redneck Disney.

So naturally I had to check this place out. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
The traffic was so heavy it was redirected in one way. Once in the parking lot they had fancy directional signs – see disneyesque
The exterior was really fancy but doesn’t tie in the pyramid shape of the building at all:
You even had to enter through turnstiles – disneyesque!

Overall it is very nice inside and has lots of neat things to see.

Several ponds with boats on display and live fish, ducks and even two alligators!

Of course, you can buy all the outdoorsy supplies you ever dreamed of. Y’all, I did not know there are thousands of different fishing rods to choose from
And they had pallets of ammo on the 2nd level. So much ammo!
If you’re an outdoorsy person you’ll obviously love this place, but also – if you like tacky things in an ironic fashion you’ll be delighted.
There’s also lots of cleverness.
The sunglass hut is an actual hut
And there’s an aquarium themed restuarant and bowling alley called The Fish Bowl
We spent about 2 and a half hours looking around, and if course buying a few things!

I left with a $5 tee, the kiss my bass attire, a box of ammo and a fly shooter.
It was really crowded so we didn’t get to ride the elevator to the observation deck, go bowling or play in the shooting arcade. Guess that means I’ll be doing a redneck Disney part 2 post in the future.
