As I’ve blogged about previously this year I am trying to cut back on my amount of clothing and my fashion spending. But now I’ve realized the problem with that – I’ve purged a lot and now I wearing the same 8 seasonally appropriate  outfits on rotation – which is not great when you’re also trying to focus your blog to have more of a fashion emphasis; plus it’s reminded me why I typically bought so much clothes – it’s boring wearing the same thing over and over again. Of course, part of this is my bad because I’m also supposed to be trying to wear things differently so they don’t look like the same outfit over and over again. This my friends is easier said than done.

So take last Saturday for example – Shaun and I headed to Ikea to look at sofas and kitchen ideas (woohoo – married life is so glamorous!). Initially I threw on jeans, a cotton top and a cardigan since it was looking to be a little chilly look and right as I was about to say ok, I’m ready to go I looked in the mirror and thought blah and so I thought well, let me take another look in the closet. Now, part of the whole closet purge process is to get rid of anything that would be blah but this ain’t “What Not to Wear Y’all” an no one has given me $5,000 to replace my wardrobe in one fast swoop and so sometimes in order to make sure I do have clothes that fit and are decent to wear outside the home I have to keep the things that are meh.

But, I took another look in the closet and pulled out this top that was previously voted to restyle by my friends. The first time I wore it was in the winter and I wore with a black turtleneck and received feedback to restyle with a lighter color – so here it is restyled for a cool spring night with a nude tank underneath. I paired with my baublebar tassle earrings for a pop of color. If this had been a date night I would have used a black clutch as my purse but I needed something to carry around a notebook and measuring tape. When we got to Ikea I decided their exterior was the perfect backdrop to take a picture – Shaun was a good sport.

So, is my closet where I want it to be? Not even close! Does it have more room and empty hangers? Yes! Will it get there? I think so. But for now I’m doing my best with what I’ve got.
