Earlier this month the much anticipated Victoria Beckham collection for Target dropped and I was so excited to pick up some fabulous pieces to add to my wardrobe. I was super impressed with the quality of the collection and while some pieces are what I would consider seasonal / trendy others have potential to become permanent staples in my wardrobe. For quality – the weight of the materials. the stitching and the pattern matching are things you don’t typically see at target – in value priced clothing patterns don’t usually match up at the seems but I noticed on my stripped dress at the seems the stripes match up perfectly- this is attention to detail folks! My only complaint is that several of the pieces do use polyester and are thicker materials and I wonder if the target people told VB how warm it gets in America – we’re already in the mid-80s in Memphis this week. April has been a crazy month and I purchased 15 clothing pieces from the collection so I haven’t been able to wear all of them yet but here’s my first batch of outfits and how I’m mixing them into my wardrobe.
Blue and White Stripe Shirt Dress – SOLD OUT
This dress was one of the earliest sell outs of the collection. It looks very similar to a current VVB piece, has good length, is flattering and nice structure – who wouldn’t want this dress? I have worn this dress 3 times already and each time have been stopped by strangers to tell me how much they like my dress. I see myself wearing this dress a lot this summer. I took my regular size on this dress.
Even though you can totally see my husband’s shadow taking the pic this is now my most liked photo on instagram so I must not be the only one who thinks it looks pretty cute. There’s matching pants to this top but honestly, I think it’s too much. Most people on instagram are wearing this top with jeans like I have but I’ve also seen it with white bottoms which I really like. This top is structured cotton making it great for this time of year. I took my regular size on this top.
VB herself has said these pants are one of her favorite pieces from the collection and while I don’t think I can carry off the look of wearing with the matching top (which I did purchase to wear on its own) I think a white top lets the specialness of the pants stand out. This top has the same fit and structure of the dress above and who doesn’t need a classic white top? For the pants I love that it’s a fun twist on a closet staple and while I found the hips to run small it was worth it to size up. Also – I’m 5’10 and wearing wedges and they’re still long – this never happens for me. Like I said, I sized up (two sizes) on the pants but took my regular size on the top.
This shift dress was my Easter outfit this year. It has nice structure and weight to the material and is very comfortable. I was really worried about the length of the dresses but as you can see that was not a problem. I found most of the dresses in this collection to run narrow in the hips so I sized up in this dress and others.
Bee Print Cami – SOLD OUT
This pic is what happens when you take your photos on a humid day – and hence why some of the non natural fiber items aren’t that wearable right now, not even May and we have serious humidity. That said I love this cotton cami and this is one of my favorite looks and example of taking something from the collection and mixing it in with what I already own. Because the chest coverage in minimal on this top I sized up to get a little more coverage.
As I’m writing this I am actually wearing the pink pants from the collection – the fit just like the black pants but are more of a knit material, very soft and comfortable. I have nine more pieces I need to wear and photograph so I’ll have at least one more post coming up next week about this collection. Although many of the standard sized items are sold out many plus size pieces are still available.
