With all that’s been going on lately I completely missed the email notification that Sephora Play had shipped so I was pleasantly surprised to come home to my May box last night.
This month the folks at Sephora decided to mix it up and offer something different from the drawstring bag, I hope it continues because I LOVE this pouch and I could think of a lot of ways I could use more of these while I usually wind up tossing the drawstring bags.
Here’s a look at what’s inside:
This month’s box is focused on beauty products on the rise. Here’s what I received this month:
I will say the staying power is impressive – I swatched this on my hand last night and the swatch was still perfectly intact this morning. However, the color is awful – it’s a brown and looked to goth for my taste when I put it on my lips. I hated the color so much I’ll be tossing this sample so I don’t ever accidently wear it. This product comes in 7 colors and this is the darkest one, usually samples are a neutral so that was a bit surprising – I think Sephora offers a nice matte, long lasting lip product for $14 so I’d be included to but that in more shade before I would give this a try in another color.
I love clay masks so I’m always up for trying something new and as someone who has oily skin this is a perfect product for me to try. I’m a little skeptical of the price for a cleanser but it’s not high enough that if I felt like I liked the way it controls oil and keeps my face feeling nice I’d be opposed to.
Like most lip plumpers this one stung for a little bit but now my lips are plump but soft and have a just a slight tingle to them. It felt sticky when it first went but now that it has set my lips do not have a sticky feel. Personally I prefer a matte look vs a gloss but I do occasionally like plumped lips so this I’d definitely a product I would use in the future.
This is a very pretty shade and subtle enough that you can highlight without getting that white circle or overly glittery look. I think a stick is great for a highlighter because it allows for precision with the application and this formula is very smooth and blends easily.
The idea od a shampoo . scalp scrub really excites me and I’m eager to try this. I have a very oily scalp so I’m nervous about trying a new product during the work week but I’ll be trying this one out this weekend. This product is really pricey for 8oz so I’d really have to see a difference in my hair to warrant the price or it would have to be effective if only used once a week.
The brochure says this has bergamot, lemon and coconut milk but it kinda reminds me of baby powder, certainly not a bad scent but not exactly what I want to smell like as a grown woman. If you like a soft scent though this may be for you. This scent also comes in a candle and that would interest me.
Overall another solid month for Sephora play – only one product I didn’t like and one really great little bag. I’m looking forward to June already.
