Summer Fashion Refresh

My wardrobe makeover is focused on investing in quality classic pieces in my closet I think it’s good to get a few inexpensive, trendy pieces each season to keep myself from getting bored or feeling the need to go out and buy everything new. Here’s some of the trends I’ve decided to add to my wardrobe this summer:

White Pants

Every summer I buy a new pair of white linen pants. I’d love to keep them in pristine condition but usually by the end of summer I’ve had enough trips and spills that causes the current pair to be tossed. Knowing that I will NEVER be able to keep white pants for more than a few months I get mine at Old Navy. Old Navy White Linen Pants $25

Palm Print

It seems like palm prints are everywhere this season and while there’s plenty of designers who have embraced this trend there’s also plenty of mass retailers offering this trend at a low price point. I purchased this top from Old Navy for the tropical theme day at work (hence the loud earrings) but I wearing it more subtly styled this summer. My top seems to be sold out online but there’s a similar one available for a great price right now.   Old Navy Palm Leaf Tunic $12.97

Off the Shoulder Top

For this trend I decided to get a white poplin blouse to give a seasonal twist on the classic white blouse look – I can wear this with any colored pants and it’s a great way to show off some statement jewelry. Forever 21 White Off the Shoulder Top $19.90

Tassels

I went into Forever 21 looking for the off the shoulder top but I wound up finding this dress as well. Last summer I had a top with a tassel trim but the knit got a hole in it so this dress was a fun replacement. I tend to wear a lot of tassel earrings so one clothing piece that incorporates tassels is plenty for my wardrobe. Forever 21 tassel dress $27.90

Romper

Ok, so I actually purchased this romper in April but it has carried well into summer as good dress alternative. I pair with a cardigan for work and wear on its own outside the office. Target Navy Floral Jumpsuit $34.99

Gingham

I love gingham and its temping to buy a dozen gingham pieces – or I would just wear the heck out of this one top which is from the VBxTarget collection. I am looking into getting a pink gingham dress but that will be it – at least for this year. Oh, and my swim suit is gingham. This top is no longer available but target does have other gingham items such as a Who What Wear Gingham Top for $24.99

None of these items are break the bank items and go with a variety of items I already own.
