Ok, so I know once labor day passes we get all excited and consider it fall but officially it starts this Friday. Right now here in the south mother nature still hasn’t made up her mind – we’ve had beautiful days in the 70s and chilly nights but we still get some days in the 90s too. It makes fall fashion a wee bit difficult so I find myself waiting until Thanksgiving weekend before I even think about busting out a sweater. Luckily this year a lot of the trends can work for this it’s fall but it doesn’t really feel like it weather.
I think it is important for any fashionista to think about what trends he or she would like to incorporate into their style for the current season. Fashion is after all supposed to be a form of expression so it never makes sense to me to wear something just because it’s “in”. For example camo is big this year, but it’s not my style and not something you’ll ever see me in. However, there’s a lot of trends this year that allow me to embrace my feminine style, which is great but it makes picking my purchases a bit challenging. Here’s some of the trends I’m adding this year and items on my wish list.
Victorian Style Tops
I love this Elvi Blouse at Nordstrom and think its a great way to add some lightweight fall style BUT . . .
. . .I already purchased this ruffle lace top from Who What Wear.
Do I really need two Victorian lace tops? Well no, but don’t be surprised if you see my posting the Nordstrom one on instagram at some point.
Red
Red everything is in this fall. I already have a red skirt and I recently purchased this red floral top from Who What Wear. (print also comes in a dress, skirt and jacket)
I also love this burgundy lace top (I have a feeling I’m going to have a lot of lace tops by the time November rolls around)
Statement Sleeves
I really want a tiered sleeve top – and so does everyone else because these are selling out quickly. This top from Foever21 sold out in black but is still available in burgundy
Also at Forever 21 is this pretty bell sleeve top with lace
Nordstrom Rack has this fun top with pearls (it comes in white, blue and pink)
And I love this flutter sleeve top at Nordstrom (comes in red as well)
Velvet
Velvet shoes, especially booties, seem to be huge but I really like these pearl and velvet mules
I also love this off the shoulder velvet top – perfect for a night out!
Edgy
Lastly, since so much of my style is feminine I feel like I should give the edgy / feminine look a try and I am digging the idea of a moto jacket. I’m still torn if I should make an investment purchase in this and buy a quality leather jacket I can wear for years but since I’m still a little hesitant I’m thinking this faux leather one from Nordstrom Rack is a good tester.
You may notice that most of my wish list is tops. I have jeans I love and nice little collection of skirts so tops is really where my wardrobe is lacking right now – a lot of these trends are available in dresses and skirts too but right now I need / want all the tops! Decisions Decisions on what to buy!
