Where you stay on a trip can really make or break a trip. If I’m planning a busy on the go the whole time trip I don’t mind a place just to crash but when I’m looking for relaxation I think accommodations really add to the overall experience. Now, one thing you should know about me is that I’m the type of outdoorsy in that I enjoy drinking on patios – I don’t hike and I certainty don’t “rough it”. But I do like nature and can appreciate a good view. Luckily, the Yurt had all the creature comforts of home and was the perfect glamping experience.
After dinner at the recommendation of our fabulous host we sat outside sipping beverages and enjoying the sunset. Back inside the Yurt we had a full bathroom, air conditioning, a kitchenette, futon, tables and chairs, and a queen sized bed beneath a sky light. One thing the Yurt didn’t offer but we certainly didn’t miss was a tv; even though we still had cell service it felt a little more one with nature to not have that distraction. Once it got dark we enjoyed looking through the skylight to see the stars before drifting off to sleep. The next morning a big thunderstorm rolled though the area – it was such a cool experience to really hear the rain and thunder without the buffer of brick walls yet the Yurt was perfectly secure and safe during the storm. We got super lucky in that right as it was time to check out the rain cleared – it was the best of both worlds.
You can find this Yurt on airbnb.com in Altus, AR. I recently had my first AirBnB experience in April and am excited to continue to use the site to find unique and affordable accommodations when traveling. This recent getaway reminded us how much we enjoy our weekend getaways and need to make them a priority in our lives.
My outfit was the perfect comfortable chic for a day or sipping wines and checking out vineyards – the best part is nothing is over $25!
