Anyone who knows me knows I love gingham for it’s classic preppy style and versatility. I have several gingham tops and gingham dresses but am just now getting comfortable with wearing printed bottoms. In addition to being comfortable and perfect for summer I am loving these gingham pants from Jessica London because I can wear them with a variety of colors. The possibilities are endless but in this post we’re taking a look at three different colors to pair with gingham.
The most obvious color is white and since gingham is always white and one other color it will go with gingham in any color. A lot of people get intimidated by white because it seems hard to clean – while it’s true that white will highlight a stain I find white easier to treat stains that colored garments because it can be bleached. Plus, white gives summer fresh vibe. I went with an off the shoulder top for my white because it also screams summer to me. Since this top has statement sleeves with the side bows and a dramatic neck I decided to skip a necklace and go with statement earrings instead.
Another easy option is to pair with the same color of the gingham – this isn’t quite a monochromatic look but is really safe and easy to put together. I wear a lot of blue so I already had this cotton peplum tee in my closet. For accessories I am bringing in a little gingham with the purse; blue earrings would work here but I thought white was a nice touch.
For a final look I decided to pair my gingham with a contrasting color – with the gingham print blue and white I thought this would be an easy way to make a red, white and blue outfit. I kept the accessories the same and just swapped out for a different color tee – easy peasy. This is another tee I already had in my closet, I find it’s a good idea to keep solid tees in various colors on hand to make easy, comfortable outfits.
These looks here are really simple – if you really want to have fun with gingham you can play around with colors and even do a little print mixing. I’ll continue to style these pants various ways this summer but wanted to start off with some simple looks that would be super easy to put together and involve pieces you probably already have in your closet. I hope this post has inspired you to have some fun with gingham this summer.
