Winter to Spring Florals

Winter to Spring Florals

Every year I struggle with what to wear in February and March. All the pretty spring styles have been released but the weather is not so springy. This year I found some great floral options from Ulla Popken in darker colors – this is the best of both worlds because they can be worn in winter and layered for warmth now and then paired with lighter fabrics and colors as we move into spring.

When I shop for clothes I look for pieces with versatility- I tend to follow a work / weekend / worship guideline meaning I like pieces I can wear to the office, out to dinner and to church. All of these pieces follow these guidelines.

Any who knows me knows I’m a sucker for a statement skirt so I was immediately attracted to this midi length pleated floral print skirt. Printed skirts offer a lot of versatility because they provide a lot of color paring options. For February I stuck to pairing with red and pink but in the spring I think a light green would be a nice balance. I also paired it with a white wrap top for an anytime of year perfectly professional look.

A floral print dress is always a good idea IMO and Ulla Poken has two that I think are perfect for the late winter transition into spring. I’m a sucker for anything with a flounce hem so this dress immediately drew my attention and I love the small scale print – while I think it’s beautiful on its own I really love it with a large scale floral sweater.

While I find black to be a great neutral I really like adding color into my life and this maxi dress is a fun and versatile piece thanks to the bright bold print. I love that it completely unbuttons and can be worn as a duster.

One of the most fun thing about wear Ulla Popken is because they are new to the US the pieces are a little more unique and aren’t something you’ll see everyone else wearing when you go out. If you like to mic and match like I do getting several pieces from the same brand keeps the colors consistent and makes mix and match pieces more cohesive.

I hope this post has inspired you to think of some fun ways you can play with floral pieces in your own wardrobe and you’ll check out Ulla Popken – there are hundreds of pieces on the site so my style picks only scratch the surface of possibilities.
