Pretty in Pink Tulle Skirt

Pretty in Pink Tulle Skirt

If you haven’t figured it out about me already I like pink – a lot! So it shouldn’t be shocking that my second closet classics focus is another pink item, the pink tulle skirt. I will admit that this one is more of a personal classic vs a piece of fashion that has stood the test of time but I think fashion is all about self expression anyway.

I don’t recall seeing a tulle skirt outside of Halloween or ballet recitals until Carrie Bradshaw strutted around the streets of NYC but I am personally glad this fabric made the move to mainstream fashion. I want to say it was around 2014 that tulle had it’s big moment – anyone who had a blog had at least one photo wearing a puffy tulle skirt with a plaid flannel shirt, bubble pearl necklace and heels. During that time it was difficult if not impossible to find a tulle skirt in plus sizes but then a year or so later it seemed that this style was almost exclusively being worn by plus size women until in 2019 the tiered tulle skirt emerged. Now don’t get me wrong – I love a tulle skirt full of volume but I think one with a simple overlay it a lot easier to wear on a regular basis. And of course if you are going to wear such a delicate fabric, what better color to do it in than pink? So regularly has my pink tulle skirt been worn in fact over the past five years that it has been retired and replaced.

I started wearing tulle skirts after the trend had peaked but I can’t recall a time when I didn’t receive at least one compliment when wearing them. Initially I thought it was sometime I would wear a few times and move on from but over the years I have been pleasantly surprised with the versatility of my pink tulle skirt. In no particular order here are my favorite ways to style a pink tulle skirt:

I could honestly keep going with this list!

For my look here I am going full on feminine with a floral printed bow blouse and all pink accessories. A pink tulle skirt is easy to play up this kind of style but it’s also fun to use to soften more edgy or structured pieces.
