Ah yes, it is the time of year when every blogger you once liked a photo of wants to tell you what to buy for your friends and family. On one hand I think gift guides are fun and I always find something cool I hadn’t seen before when I look at other people’s gift guides. On the other hand I believe gifting should come from the heart. So while I don’t know your Aunt Debbie or your brother Tom I can share with you the types of gifts I consider thoughtful and things I love or would enjoy receiving myself.
My favorite gifts to receive are things I wouldn’t buy for myself. This honestly gets harder every year because I pretty much live the “treat yo self” lifestyle. But, to me this translates to “little luxuries”, things that are nicer than the typical everyday item. For example – I love taking bubble baths but I usually buy generic bubble bath or walmart bath bombs so a lush brand bath bomb would be a special treat above my regular purchases. As I’ve gotten older I appreciate quality over quantity regardless of the price point. I have included items under $50, under $100 and splurge over $100 on each guide.
In my house instead of buying expensive gifts to eachother we set aside a budget for small thoughtful items to exchange on Christmas. The rest of our budget goes to buy items for our house together – last year we got Roomba and it’s probably the best money we’ve ever spent! This year we got new bedding. So in this spirit I’ve added a gift guide for things around the home of you’re looking to make a joint gift to eachother or gift to a couple / family.
I hope that you will enjoy these ideas as a way to treat your loved ones or even a little treat for yourself. But most of all I hope that you are able to end 2020 on a high note!
