I’m a little bit excited about having a fancy date night for Valentine’s Day this year and I got a new pink dress to celebrate in. However, I don’t believe in buying clothing to wear for a singular occasion so I knew this was an item I would want to restyle different ways.
The thing I love about dresses is they are ready made stylish outfits. You can finish with any accessories to your taste but this dress paired with heels and some jewelry is going to have a similar look on everyone when styled this way. Pairing a dress with heels is low hanging fruit but let’s be real – it’s easy and it looks good. For my basic look with this dress I decided to lean into the feminine details – putting my hair up and adding a giant bow, heart jewelry and sunglasses, a pink feather purse and metallic bow heels.
For my next look I decided to keep the look very simple and paired with a pair of burgundy OTK boots. My initial thought was to wear tall black boots and while I think that would look cute I had these in my closet as well and loved the colors together. Plus, the boots have an advantage over heels in that they add a layer on the legs for warmth.
Finally, I decided to change the function of the dress into a shirt by covering up the top half with a hot pink sweater. I really love mixing shades of the same color together and the sweater makes this outfit a little more casual. I finished the look with a printed bootie for a fun and playful addition to this outfit. I think this look would be really fun layered with tights to further play with color but I didn’t have any handy.
I hope this post has inspired you to take another look at that dress you bought for a special night out and wear it again. I always think it’s a shame to buy things we love once and then hide them in the closet for years.
The styling options in this post would work for a variety of outfits but since I do like pink I also rounded up some other pink dress options if you are still looking for a pretty dress to add to your collection.
