I’m Sometimes you have to recognize your strengths and when it’s time to outsource . For me a healthy lifestyle is not a strength. I love the idea of eating small healthy meals and working out everyday but then I get hangry and eat anything in sight. Or I have a busy weekend and don’t have time to meal prep, and then I’m screwed for the week and one bad week turns into a bad month, and a bad year and a decade of gaining weight. So, when a sorority sister posted a meal plan she had found success with I was very interested. Shaun and I tried a similar program last year but it was very expensive ($170 for one person for 5 days) That’s a great investment if you need to lose 10 or 20 lbs but when you have a lot to lose you need a long term plan that is viable from a time, nutrition and financial aspect. 
Long term it’s still pricey but I was very impressed with the value and results of sensible portions and decided to give it a try. Like most meal plans the plan is for five days and includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here’s what was sent to me for this week: 
The program is $80 / week and has a $17 shipping cost. I was very nervous about having food shipped but the packaging is pretty sturdy. The meals are individually boxed in plastic containers, the containers are stacked in plastic wrap and placed into a styrofoam cooler with lots of cold packs. 
The cooler is taped up tight,boxed and shipped. By the time I get home to my box the ice packs are only half thawed and the food goes straight into my freezer. 
I’ll admit, with my first shipment I was worried at the tiny food containers but it didn’t take long to find good timing of small in-between meals snacks to keep the hangry (and headaches) at bay. 
The food itself is pretty good! I really like the breakfasts and I’m not typically a breakfast person. Here’s an example of one day’s meals last week: 
Overall I like the program, it makes healthy eating a no-brainier. I am an incredibly picky eater so a long term concern of mine is that there are some meals I just don’t want – I pass those into my husband for lunches. And while $97 is a great price for 15 meals shipped to my door I worry about the long term sustainability financially of spending just on my food what some families spend on groceries for the whole house. I have a four week commitment to the program so I’ll evaluate at that time if it’s the long term plan for me based on results, how well sharing meals with my husband goes, and cost. But, it’s been a great way to get myself used to eating less and shown that healthy eating doesn’t have to be just salads.
