Beauty Blog – At home mini facial

No longer planning a wedding as given me back a little bit of time for hobbies and I hope to be back in a blogging routine soon. One of my favorite and from the stats your favorite posts that I do are trying out various beauty products and routines. I’ve got several things in the works but they are things that stretch over the course of a week or month so I haven’t completed my review. One product I’m giving a try is the lash boost from Rodan and Fields . . . And no, I did not sign up as a consultant. I have pretty decent natural lashes but I love the look when I add on fake ones, so if I could enhance my natural lashes to look more like they do with fake ones I would be oh so happy! So, for the next 30 days I’ll be applying the serum at night and I’ll let you know what happens. In the meantime, I got a facial sampler from the consultant I purchased through so since it was a one time thing I figured it’d make a perfect post to tide us over.
The facial sampled came with microdermabrasion paste, a face serum and lip treatment

Before photo – clean face

The paste says to use on dry skin but if a gentler scrub is desired face should be wet – I choose to go dry. There was A LOT of paste in the sample pack, more than I would ever use at a time if I purchased a jar but I did use the entire pack and gently rub in circular motions for 60 seconds. I didn’t feel any stinging or irritation using the paste but I did notice the granuals are bigger than other microdermabrasion pastes I’ve used in the past / not quite the consistency of a sugar scrub but similar.  As a bonus since there was so much I took the excess off my face and also gave my hands a scrub.
Once the scrub was rinse of and my face pat dry it was time for the serum, which came in a tiny gray capsule. In contrast to the paste I found this portion was too small as the serum wasn’t super spreadable. I had enough for my forehead and cheeks and tried to spread to the rest of my face but I don’t feel this was successful. The serum doesn’t really smell and has a nice consistency.
The last step was the lip treatment, which was waaaaay more than needed for my lips – I wound up using the excess on my cuticles and this was with a pretty thick layer coving my lips. Once absorbed my lips did feel very smooth.
The instruction card stated that I’d wake up with glowing skin the next day. I literally woke up like this:

The smooth feeling from the night before on the lips is gone and I don’t really see a difference in my skin, products like these are really meant for one to see a difference over time but it was good to not see redness or irritation caused by the exfoliation. I must say though that my cuticles which had been super dry are looking much better so that’s nice.
About a month ago I had one of those oh yeah moments when I realized Rodan + Fields are the same people that brought us pro active. Honestly, I don’t know why more consultants don’t lead with that since a lot of us are young enough to have used it in our teens, or for me college and young post grad – it was expensive but damn it worked. Rodan + Fields is even more expense but if it does to wrinkles what it did to acne than I might just have to take a look at my budget and see how to make it work.
