Recently Shaun and I went on a Carnival
cruise and loved it! One thing I really wanted to do was hit up the Cloud 9 spa, it had great reviews and beautiful pictures of the interior – the perfect add on to our vacation! This really shouldn’t be surprising as you know I love beauty treatments but I really wanted to do a couples spa treatment – this took some convincing. Somehow I was able to convince Shaun to participate in the couple’s mud rasul ritual.
For this treatment we had the use of a private thermal suite for an hour.
We walked into the suite to a large tiled room and found a bowl of mud and plate of sugar scrub ready to go. We stripped and took turns dry scrubing eachother and using the small shower to rinse off. It was then time for the mud application which again we put on eachother.
Covered in a thin layer of green goo we headed into the steam room for 45 minutes. It wasn’t too hot and the steam was infused with essential oils, which you know I loved. We sat and chatted and just relaxed since it has been a long day and it was our 4th and final excursion day. Just when we felt like we had enough the timer went off and we headed to the rainfall shower.
This showed was gorgeous! But it was also cold, which makes sense but was not what we were expecting so needless to say it was a quick rinse rather than a lingering experience.
Finally we dried off, put our fluffy robes back on and sipped on the lemon water that had been left out for us. Overall it was a very relaxing experience and “not as bad” as Shaun thought it would be, I even got a smile out of him at the end.
The treatment was $95 for two which isn’t bad but not a great deal for some mud and scrub (we ran out, a little more would have been appreciated) I was overall pleased with the experience and would recommend it to others. Cruises are lots of fun but you’re around other people all the time to the quiet togetherness was much appreciated. A great one time experience but next time ( on our honeymoon!!!!) we’ll just get spa passes and enjoy the non private thermal suites together.
