Recently I participated in an online class where I got to try a lot of the Young Living beauty products and since many of you just like reading my thoughts on weird beauty rituals and I’ve been asked what I thought of the products I figured this would make a good post. This is a pretty mainstream routine so sorry to those who were looking for my latest weird experiment.
For each product I’m listing the quantity and member price along with the official description and then my personal thoughts.
Orange Blossom Facial Wash 4oz $41
Orange Blossom Facial Wash™ is a gentle, nonabrasive, free-rinsing cleanser that removes dirt and makeup without stripping skin of natural oils. It contains MSM to promote healthier and clearer skin, wolfberry seed oil to hydrate, and essential oils to soothe with aromatic benefits. Added botanicals protect skin from free radical damage.
I was a little nervous about trying this one because I have a very hard rule to not use soap or cleansers on my face, but since I know they use them with facials I figured trying it out wouldn’t hurt. OMG, this cleanser smells amazing and it wasn’t soapy at all. Overall just really nice to use and did a good job of getting rid of all my makeup. The price is pretty steep but a little goes a long way and I’m told one bottle will last for months.
ART Refreshing Toner 4oz $24
ART® Refreshing Toner gently removes impurities without drying the skin. The perfect blend of essential oils helps balance your skin’s pH, while leaving your face clean, toned, and refreshed.
This certainly smells better than your average toner but I think most toners function pretty similarly, the pricing is similar to the toner I currently use so no complaints there.
Satin Mint Facial Scrub 2oz $16.25
Satin Facial Scrub™ Mint is an advanced cleansing formula designed for normal skin. It cleans, nourishes, and stimulates without damaging the skin’s natural pH balance. Safe, gentle ingredients help to exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin for a fresher, smoother appearance. Contains MSM, antioxidant vitamins, and botanicals.
Oh, I loved this. It gave me a nice tingly clean feeling. I personally use some pretty aggressive exfoliation methods so I found this to be incredibly gentle. Mostly I just really liked the sensation and since s little went a long way I’m going to buy a full sized bottle.
Sheerlume 1oz $67.75
Illuminate your complexion with Sheerlumé Brightening Cream—an advanced formula powered by a proprietary blend of Young Living’s pure essential oils. Dark spots and uneven skin tone plague women of all ages all over the world, and most of these women are searching for a long-term solution. With this in mind, Young Living has developed Sheerlumé to offer a lot more than just a simple quick-fix concealer: Light and natural, its advanced formula offers long-lasting, unparalleled results for all skin types.
Of course, I had to fall for one of the most expensive products. A lot of people call this Spanx for the face. I don’t know about that but I do know that on Saturday my face had a nice flow to it that was missing Sunday when I used the same makeup but did not apply the sheerlume. Here’s my skin with it today, I did not sleep well last night but you’d never know.
ART Renewal Serum 2/3oz $74.75 Chinese tradition has long revered the power of the orchid, and today its petals are highly valued for their reparative and protective properties. With A•R•T Renewal Serum, Young Living has combined the remarkable properties of the orchid (Phalaenopsis amabilis) with the skin-enhancing benefits of pure essential oils and other natural botanicals to create a beauty product unlike any other.
As far as seriums go, this one goes on very smooth and like the trend here smells awesome. I personally do not like the feel of s serium, moisturizer and brightening cream plus makeup so this is s product I personally skip. But if you like seriums this one felt nice.
Boswellia Wrinkle Cream 2oz $67.25
Boswellia™ Wrinkle Cream nourishes skin for a smoother, more youthful appearance. Its primary ingredient methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) supports collagen to improve skin firmness and minimize fine lines. Essential oils geranium, myrrh, sandalwood, and ylang ylang soothe and soften the skin, while frankincense and wolfberry oil enhance collagen formation.
I really like the texture of this cream. I have some other moisturizers I’m working my way through but once I clear out my stash I could see myself using this in the future. I hate a runny moisturizer and this one has a nice substance to it without being thick and feeling like too much on the face.
Sandalwood Moisture Cream 4oz $61.25
Sandalwood Moisture Cream is an ultra-hydrating moisturiser infused with pure Young Living essential oils. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) – a naturally occuring, plant based chemical, softens skin and promotes elasticity. Essential oils: Rosewood, lavender, rosemary, sandalwood, myrrh
This is a lighter moisturizer and great for daytime wear. I personally prefer a moisturizer with SPF during the day but this could be modified to achieve that. A better value than the other creams so that’s giving me something to ponder.
Wolfberry Eye Cream $46.25
Wolfberry Eye Cream™ may be applied morning and evening to ease the appearance of puffiness and dark circles around the eyes, and to promote skin tightening. Wolfberry Eye Cream is formulated from oil that is carefully extracted from the seeds of the Ningxia wolfberry. Rich in vitamin E and linoleic acids, wolfberry oil has unusual chemistry that makes it ideal for nourishing and hydrating skin. It is highly regarded by Asian women for its regenerative properties and its ability to protect aging skin and add luster to skin tone.
So, like I said, I did not sleep well last night but I did use this cream on my eyes and I certainly feel soft in that area this am and my eyeliner glided on with ease. I don’t typically use a specific eye cream but I’m not opposed to the idea.
ART Cream Mask 1oz $46.75
The A.R.T® Creme Masque is formulated to deeply moisturize and protect skin using an exclusive blend of hyaluronic acid and pure essential oils. Other natural, spa-quality botanicals are added to help soothe, tighten, and restore the look of youthfulness to the skin. How to Use: Wash and dry face. Apply evenly to face. Let sit 20 minutes. Remove excess residue with moist towel.
I really enjoyed this mask, it didn’t make my face all tight and crack like other masks do, and I also like that I didn’t look like a green faced monster while wearing it. Because I am more concerned with pulling out dirt and yuck that gets stuck in pores vs moisture I would not use this with the recommended weekly occurrence. I did however enjoy how soft my face felt so I could see it being good for a monthly facial.
In case you can’t tell, smelling good is a really important quality to me. I personally really enjoy making my own beauty products so I don’t see myself ever going with the entire line but it offers some great natural beauty for those who don’t have time for all that, and there are some amazing ingredients I could probably never track down or it would be cost prohibitive to do so. I’ll probably use my rewards points to purchase a few items since these are what I would consider a bit of a splurge, it sounds like a little goes a long way so by the time I run out of one batch I’ll have accumulated enough points for more.
As a final note, here are some guidelines on how much product to use:
