Lilly for Target Backup Plan

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you are well aware that next month Target is releasing a designer collaboration with Lilly Pulitzer. This collaboration has been widely covered in social media so I’m not going to waste time re-hashing stuff here. I do however want to talk about having a backup plan.
The time of the online release has not been announced but in my dream world at midnight April 19th I would hop online, fill my cart with my wish list and check out. I’d then get a good nights sleep and breeze into my neighborhood target the next am to shop in store. But it seems like a lot of people are planning to shop this collection, people who have never mentioned the name Lilly Pulitzer are chomping at the bit to buy $38 shift dresses – competition will be stiff! In reality I will stalk the website Saturday night / Sunday morning, watch it crash yet items sell out at the same time, get a few hours of sleep, be at target at opening and run like a crazy lady to grab the few XL items that will be available.
So, I have a wish list but I understand it is just that – wishes. Since I have a closet full of lilly I’ll get what I can, be disappointed in the items I miss out on and move on. But I know many people planning to shop the collection are looking to buy their first lilly piece, or add to a small collection. Lilly clothes have brought me much happiness and I want y’all to have that too! So don’t despair, you have options!
Like all other designer colabs there will be people who are magically able to buy mass quantities of product and will list these items on eBay for an inflated price. Look, I get it, maybe there’s something you really had you heart set on and so I grant you permission to bid on eBay – but here’s the deal you must not spend more than twice the products retail price , so for a shift dress you could pay up to $76. Right now someone has a $30 cover up listed for $150 dollars. DON’T DO IT!!! I like to consider my readers as friends and friends don’t let friends overpay for clothes.
You see, these shenanigans might have worked on collections where the designer’s pieces typically go for north of $500 but with Lilly this is not the case. If you are considering spending more than twice the Target price for an item you are a fool and Mandysue does not like fools. No, what you will do is head on over to your local Lilly Pulitzer signature store and buy a full priced item there. You see my friends, Lilly Pulitzer is not the super fancy design house of collections past, in fact there are plenty of items well under $100. So yes, while getting those $38 shifts would be ideal if that just doesn’t happen don’t completely cut yourself off from the idea of a little lilly in your life.
Here are my top picks for items under $100 for your consideration:

I have this top in a print from last year, it’s so comfortable!

I don’t personally wear shorts, but most Lilly lovers are obsessed with them.
Love these tops!!! Cute, comfortable and flattering they are my favorite way to have a little print indulgence.
Another top in which I have last year’s model – it is literally my favorite top!
Yep, you can even get a lilly dress right under $100. These can be dressed up or dressed down.

Right now I’m trying to justify how I could use another clutch in my life I love this one so much.

Don’t worry, they have ones for the 6 too!

Y’all know I’m lilly scarf obsessed so I had to include at least one here.
All of these items come in multiple prints and would be great lilly starter pieces. Also, you could always hold out for the big sale at the end of August.
Happy shopping and I hope all your lilly wishes come true, as long as they don’t get in the way of mine ; )
