Gingham Style for Any Size

Oh my goodness, I think we
skipped spring and went straight to summer in Memphis y’all!  And considering the weather won’t even think
of cooling down until the end of October I’m looking at a long stretch of
needing warm weather clothing. Now don’t get me wrong, I love floral just as
much as the next girly girl but my favorite spring / summer print is actually
gingham.

I knew I wanted to talk more
about gingham I didn’t want to just show y’all the same pieces you’ve already
seen me in and I also wanted to show how gingham is something truly for
everyone  – luckily I have a great tribe
of blogger babes in Memphis so I can share with you gingham styled differently
and worn on different sizes!

When Denise and Magen agreed to
show off gingham style with me I kept the guidelines pretty simple – wear
something gingham. So I love how with no planning on our parts not only did we
all style gingham differently and pick different colors we also picked
different pieces.

I would love to buy a gingham
skirt this season and I’m loving the side ruffle trend going on right now so of
course I absolutely adore Magen’s look. I tend to think of gingham as being
casual so I was also really excited to see her dressy twist on this print – for
details on Magen’s look be sure to check her out on Instagram.

On the other end Denise made her
gingham look super cool with her super stylish shades, canteen bag and skinny
jeans. I also never think of green as being a color to gingham in – be sure to
visit The Elle Aesthetic to find out more about Denise’s look.
For my look I wanted to be
feminine but not prissy. Last time I wore this dress I wore a pearl necklace
and it just screamed June Cleaver and not that I don’t mind that look for time
to time but I wanted something that looked more weekend brunch with the girls
than vacuuming in heels.

Since it’s such a classic print
every year when the weather warms up you know it’s going to be in style. So
although I do have several gingham items from affordable fast fashion brands this
outfit is showing off more of a affordable splurge piece. I got this dress
custom made from Memphis based Beg and Borrow last year. Between the classic
print and versatile shirt dress style I love how I can dress this up or down
and wear it for years.

To give the dress a casual vibe I paired with my denim
jacket and glitter keds. Carrying the “it bag” of the season keeps the look
current and fresh even though the bag is actually the only item I’ve purchased
this year. Kendra earrings are my go to jewelry, especially when I know I’m not
going to be wearing a necklace and wearing the pearl shades was a fun way tp
still bring in pearls but do so in a non-prissy way. I plan on having this dress on repeat all spring and summer long so I’ll have to continue to challenge myself to re-style it but that’s the great thing about gingham – there’s so much potential!

I hope you have something in gingham to wear this season!
